Starting February 26 and running through March 1, it's Recycling Week. The city's reminding you to have those bins out by 6:30 a.m. sharp. The collection crews will be working hard until 6:00 p.m. to make sure every can, bottle and cardboard box gets picked up.
Keep at least a three-foot gap between your cart and any other objects. Also, keep those carts out of the street. Nestle them snugly in your driveway or on the boulevard, with the handle facing away to quickly grab and go. And here's a tip straight from the city's bulletin – never to bag your recyclables. Those paper bags can jam up during the truck's compaction, making a mess of the sorting process.
If you're not sure about what you can and can't recycle, don't toss it and hope for the best. Brooklyn Park's got a nifty Recycling App that's here to help. Get service alerts, updates, and even a searchable database to check if an item is fit for the recycle bin. Plus, it's available in English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese for all residents to easily use.
For further questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Recycling Division. They're ready and waiting to assist from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. You can shoot them an email or even better, give them a quick call at 763-493-8006.
