San Antonio's streets were rife with crime as a quartet of thieves rampaged across the city, their spree halted by the law's firm hand. Cedric Howard and Mark Lopez, both 23, joined by Fabian Gonzales, 19, and Daniel Casillas, 21, are now accosted by the system, facing an array of charges including firearm theft and hindering apprehension. As KENS 5 reports their spree spanned several miles, ending only once law enforcement stepped in.
The rat pack's escapade launched at Academy Sports where two guns were filched from a vehicle, as reported by KnowHere News. Continuing their reign, they struck at a parking lot near the Ashley Store on I-10, tried for another score at the Home Depot on I-10 and De Zavala. The suspects tried to pull a gun when the owner confronted them, who, in turn, fired his weapon in defense.
Leaving a trail of chaos, they smashed a stolen blue sedan in a hasty getaway and ditched it in the Top Brass parking lot. Witnesses later saw them pile into a white sedan, in a scrambled attempt to evade capture. But their luck dwindled fast as the law was on their tail; the suspects were arrested after driving past the police substation on Prue Road, a stone's throw from Fredericksburg Road, the SAPD relayed the arrest happened without a hitch.
Except for Gonzales, the three compatriots have a rap sheet in Bexar County, stained with previous trespasses against the law including burglary, theft, evasion of arrest, and unlawfully having firearms, as KENS 5 noted. Their capture marks a win for the community, with potential future acts of thievery and gun theft now thwarted.
