Authorities are turning to the public for assistance in the search for Aniya King, a 14-year-old girl reported missing from her Grand Terrace home since February 21. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, King was last spotted leaving her residence on the 11700 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue around 4 p.m. and did not return.
Described as 5’7”, weighing 130 lbs., with brown eyes and red hair, the juvenile was seen wearing a black hoodie, white leggings, and black sandals when she vanished. As the investigation proceeds, the authorities have confirmed that King, a student at Washington High School in Colton, has been absent from school since the day of her disappearance. The deputies believe King left the residence on foot and noted she does not possess a cell phone, potentially complicating the search.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has released a photo of King and is urging anyone with information to step forward. In a statement, they stressed the importance of community assistance: "King’s photo is being released and deputies are requesting the public’s assistance in locating her. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Detective K. Garabedian."
There is speculation that King may have connections in Los Angeles, where she was previously enrolled in school.
