If you're looking to fill your home with the pattern of four-legged friends, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter has a couple of canines who could be your new best pals. This week, the shelter spotlighted Harper and Videll as their pets of the week.
Harper is a spry 4-year-old mix of Labrador Retriever and Catahoula Leopard dog who loves to explore and soak up new experiences. Her ideal household is one where she's the star pet, so she can soak up all the affection she deserves. Despite her size, this Labrador mix is known for being a gentle giant — just be prepared for a bit of friendly drool as she eagerly licks up treats and enjoys a good petting session. She's looking for a ticket out of the shelter and into a loving home.
On the more serene side, there's Videll, an 8-year-old Shepherd mix who seems content to trade in playtime for some cozy couch rest. This senior gal is all about receiving gentle pets and adoring kisses while chilling in the play yard with the shelter's staff and volunteers. She's a model pet when it comes to walking politely on a leash and she's potty trained, too. Although Videll could be picky about her doggy companions, she generally has positive interactions with other pooches.
For those ready to open their home to a new family member, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is making it easy with a special February adoption rate. According to the shelter's official announcement, all "ready-to-go" pets can be adopted for a mere $14 — a fee which includes spay/neuter, comprehensive vet exam, vaccinations, and a microchip to keep track of the new addition to your family. Visitation times are from noon – 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from noon – 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Or, if you prefer to browse potential pets online, their profiles are available on the shelter's website.
Interested potential pet parents should visit the shelter in person or check out the pets online. If there's a draw to open your home but not permanently, the shelter also has options for fostering. Anyone wishing to foster can email [email protected] or fill out an application on the shelter's website. Keep up to date with all the cuddly candidates and their stories by following the shelter's Facebook and Instagram pages.
