Five individuals got nabbed by the cops after a botched burglary attempt at a high-end consignment store in Santa Monica last Friday. Santa Monica Police raced to The Real Real on 200 26th St in the wee hours, at 2:20 AM, after security cameras caught the suspects trying to bust their way into the joint. Officers arriving at the scene witnessed the gang making a run for it, sparking a foot chase that ended with three of them in cuffs.
The fuzz wasn't about to let the others get away, setting up a perimeter faster than you can say "cuff 'em." With a little help from some K9s with a nose for trouble and an LAPD helicopter, two more wannabe burglars were collared. The culprits have been booked on attempted burglary and resisting arrest charges, according to The City of Santa Monica.
The crew is a young bunch, with Ryan Sims, Julio Mendoza, and Isaiah Lloyd ringing in at 18, and Mikel Nicholson, slightly older, at 19. They hail from Los Angeles and its surroundings, with one lad, a minor, getting snagged and then released. Sims, Mendoza, Lloyd, and Nicholson now have more to worry about than a slap on the wrist.
