For those looking to get a rare glimpse inside police operations, the Schertz Police Department has announced a nine-week Citizens Police Academy program set to kick off on February 29. According to a Facebook post from the department, this initiative will give Schertz residents and workers the opportunity to "go behind the badge" and gain firsthand knowledge about the inner workings of the SZPD.
The free program aims to foster a better understanding of police duties by allowing attendees to interact closely with SWAT teams, investigators, and officers. In a move to bridge to promote community engagement, the Schertz PD is encouraging those interested to sign up by the February 23rd deadline.
"Our next Citizens Police Academy starts Thursday, February 29th. This is a 9-week program and gives the participants a unique and exciting look inside Schertz PD," reads the SPD post on its official Facebook page. Participants will learn about various aspects of law enforcement directly from the personnel involved, potentially furthering transparency and trust between the public and the police force.
The program's curriculum has been designed to give a comprehensive view of police operations, from emergency response to investigative tactics. Those interested in joining are directed to visit the Schertz Police Department's website for more information and to register. With space limited, potential participants are urged to quickly apply. "CPA is FREE and open to any eligible Schertz resident or worker. All you have to do is sign up by Friday, February 23rd," the Schertz PD explains.
