Chaos erupted in Capitol Hill as a 44-year-old man unleashed a barrage of gunfire into the Seattle sky, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. According to the Seattle Police Department, the suspect was apprehended after he allegedly fired multiple shots and aimed his weapon at bystanders in the bustling neighborhood.
The early morning disturbance on Feb. 10 sent officers racing to Harvard Avenue and East Pike Street around 1:20 a.m., there they found the armed individual complete with a handgun and holster, upon their arrival. The man, whose identity was not released, reportedly caused mayhem by discharging the firearm into the air in an alley before turning the gun towards at least two individuals—fortunately, no one was struck by the shots fired, thanks to some twist of fate, or happenstance.
Seattle police reported that aside from the handgun, they recovered 9mm casings and identified possible damage done to a building near the scene. Witnesses present during the incident provided statements to the officers, pinning the suspect as the shooter.
Following the man's arrest, he faced booking at the King County Jail where he was slapped with two counts of assault, marking a grave turn in his midnight escapades. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives piece together the events that led up to the gunfire, leaving a community rattled, and thankful that the reckless disregard for human life didn't claim victims beyond the night's calm.
