In an act of pre-Valentine's Day goodwill, students at Summit Hill Elementary showed their appreciation for local civic leaders through a heartwarming demonstration dubbed the "Kindness Tunnel." On the eve of a day synonymous with love and affection, youths armed with handmade posters and heartfelt cards turned a school hallway into a corridor of gratitude.
As reported by the City of Milton's official website, the festivities took place yesterday morning and featured the students of Summit Hill eagerly lining the halls. The event was graced by Team Milton which includes Mayor Peyton Jamison, City Councilmembers Carol Cookerly and Doug Hene, not to mention the presence of police officers, firefighters, and City Hall staff, all receiving spirited high-fives and fist-bumps from the youngsters.
According to the city's announcement, other local dignitaries such as District 2 Fulton County School Board's Lillie Pozatek and Zone Superintendent Kibbey Crumbley joined in the fun. The procession concluded near the cafeteria where the school chorus awaited to serenade them before they enjoyed a breakfast spread provided by the PTO.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Summit Hill Principal Dr. Lorrie Bearden emphasized the annual tradition's importance. "We are truly appreciative of our partnership with the City and their support for us," she stated, recognizing the numerous ways in which the city's staff aid the school. In response, Team Milton reciprocated the sentiment, the city's post reflecting the team's immense appreciation not only for the "Kindness Tunnel" but for the daily support felt from the community.
