A string of bank heists across Metro Detroit may have been halted with the arrest of 23-year-old Glenn Pack, who now faces a potential 20-year stretch in the pen, authorities said. Pack, linked to the thefts of more than $10,000 during three separate bank robberies, was collared on January 25 in West Virginia and hauled back to Michigan to answer for his alleged crimes, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The crime spree began on December 19, 2023, with a heist at a PNC Bank located on Joseph Campau Street in Hamtramck. It extended through the new year with a January 2 robbery at a Chase Bank on Vernier Road in Harper Woods, and concluded, for now, with a January 12 robbery at another PNC Bank on S. Chrysler Drive in Hazel Park. In all three instances, Pack allegedly played the part of a patron before slipping a note to tellers demanding cash, and asserting, that he was robbing the place, according to The Detroit News.

"We are grateful for the swift action by the Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Hazel Park Police Departments in coordinating with the FBI to identify and locate the defendant," Cheyvoryea Gibson, special agent in charge of the FBI in Michigan, praised the cooperative effort. Thanks to a concerted law enforcement push, Pack was arrested by the FBI Pittsburgh Division, in an inter-state nick that brought the alleged bank-robbing run to a halt, as per The Detroit News.

United States Attorney Dawn N. Ison noted Pack's potential punishment, saying, "If convicted, Pack faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for bank robbery." The final say on his sentence, however, rests with a federal district court judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and various statutory factors before banging the gavel. Despite the charges, it should be echoed that accusations alone aren't tantamount to guilt – Pack is presumed innocent until, or unless, proven guilty in a court of law, per the U.S. Department of Justice.
