In the pre-dawn hours of a chilly February morning, Victorville witnessed a high-speed chase with a 15-year-old at the wheel of a stolen car. On February 24, 2024, the young suspect's joyride ended in a police pursuit through residential streets that culminated in an arrest and apprehension of two fleeting passengers.
Deputy A. Puga of the Victorville Police initiated the chase after attempting to stop the 2016 Hyundai Accent, confirmed stolen from Victorville. Despite the deputy's efforts, the underage driver hit the gas, leading authorities on a reckless sprint before pulling up at the Pebble Beach Apartments, according to a report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
The pursuit ceased when the teen brought the vehicle to a halt and was detained without further incident. The two passengers, also juveniles, attempted to escape by foot through the apartment complex but were swiftly caught by deputies. While the driver faced charges and was taken to Apple Valley Juvenile Hall, the passengers were released to their guardians.
