The incident erupted in front of a popular restaurant on Franklin Avenue, where demonstrators clashed and tensions escalated enough to draw police attention and intervention. It was not simply a matter of angry words but of planned aggression, culminating in arrests on the night of February 16, as reported by the LAPD PIO.

According to the LAPD news release, initial contact with the police was made by two reported victims at the Hollywood Station, the victims told their story and set the stage for the officers’ follow-up action, two suspects were identified and subsequently arrested, and they had distributed and wielded tear gas during the demonstration, which law enforcement officers deemed a coordinated attack.
"The officers' investigation revealed that the battery crimes and the unlawful use of tear gas were committed by multiple suspects whose actions were planned, organized, and coordinated," as per the LAPD PIO, a clear indication of premeditation behind the seeming chaos at the scene, the department has urged anyone with knowledge of the outbreak or those involved to step forward as the investigation persists.
With the ongoing investigation, LAPD’s Hollywood Division detectives are actively seeking tips, urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Concerned citizens can reach out to authorities via the provided hotline numbers or remain anonymous through the LA Regional Crime Stoppers program.
