
Two men have been cuffed for their alleged roles in a bold New Year's Eve heist at a Fontana tow yard, with one of the suspects, a convicted felon, caught packing an illegal assault rifle and ammo, police said. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies snagged Channa Tho, a 44-year-old man from Highland, after a lengthy probe into the burglary where thieves made off with a massive safe by maneuvering it out with a tow truck, as reported by the Fontana Sheriff's Department.
After sifting through video evidence and tip-offs, investigators closed in on Tho, who appeared to be the mastermind behind the break-in, and apprehended him at a residence in Highland on February 15; however Tho was not alone in this crime, he had an accomplice, Jung Kann, a 36-year-old former tow truck jockey at the ransacked business, nabbed a week later in Pomona without a fight.
The dual arrests resulted from the collaborative effort by the Fontana Station Detective Bureau and the Multiple Enforcement Team. Tho's arrest unfolded on the 26000 block of Cypress Street, where detectives found him with the banned firearm and a high-capacity magazine, facts that scored him extra charges on top of violating his parole for an earlier home invasion, according to the SBSD - Fontana Sheriff's Department.
Kann's bust took place on February 22 on the 900 block of Hamilton Avenue, solidifying the team's efforts to dismantle the alleged burglary operation and the subsequent search for high-value targets, both men, now face charges ranging from commercial burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, to felon with a firearm.
