Gunfire riddled the streets of Long Beach in two separate incidents, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), leaving residents on edge even as no injuries were reported. The first incident, which took place on the 3300 block of 67th Street, occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m. on Tuesday. After receiving calls about shots fired, officers arrived at the scene to find evidence of gunshots but no victims. The Long Beach PD has yet to uncover suspect information or a motive, leaving the investigation wide open.
The second event unfolded in a similar, unnerving manner – late into the same night. Police were called to the 5900 block of Orange Avenue around 11:23 p.m. after another shot call ripped through the community. Initial reports say two male adults were spotted on the sidewalk shortly before one of them fired a weapon. The suspects had cleared out before law enforcement arrived, once again leaving investigators with no immediate suspects and unknown motives.
According to the LBPD's official blotter, while evidence of a shooting was confirmed at both locations, the fortunate absence of any casualties in these close calls does little to alleviate local tensions. Police continue to urge anyone with information to come forward as both investigations into the negligent discharge and the no-hit shooting are ongoing.
