Two Suspects Charged with Theft After Napa Outlet Handbag Heist Leads to High-Speed ChaseSource: American Canyon Police Department

Handbag heist halted: Two suspects busted after Napa outlet robbery, cops say. A pair of purse pilferers were pinched in Napa after allegedly swiping a stash of handbags from a Kate Spade store and leading police on a high-speed chase, authorities reported.

The duo, identified as Raymond Albert Rodriguez, 30, and Jaden James Smith, 23, allegedly made off with an entire wall of purses on Saturday afternoon, before peeling out in a white BMW with temp plates. A sergeant from the American Canyon Police Department (ACPD) spotted the getaway car barreling down SR29, igniting a chase through city streets, the department said.

The chase, which saw officers deploy stop sticks to slow the BMW, ended near Hwy 37 when cops lost sight of the suspects. However, the car was later found in the parking lot of Six Flags, leading to the quick capture of Rodriguez and Smith, thanks to surveillance footage and assistance from the Vallejo PD, according to the ACPD.

The two men are now facing charges related to the theft and pursuit, and are booked at the Napa County Detention Center. Discussing the incident, officials lauded the collaborative effort between agencies, claiming, "This successful outcome highlights the importance of interagency cooperation in combating crime and ensuring the safety of our community." The stolen property was recovered, the department added, underscoring the swift resolution of the case.
