Tragedy struck the Relax Inn in Claxton, Georgia on Valentine's Day when four individuals were shot in an early morning incident. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), two women, now identified as Shalonde A’Jessica Stevens, 27, and Taylor Samone Clark, 26, both from Statesboro, GA, succumbed to their wounds at the scene. The victims will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab, where autopsy procedures are soon to follow.
The GBI has been called to join the investigation alongside the Evans County Sheriff’s Office, after the local authorities were alerted to the shooting at approximately 7 a.m. Officers quickly descended upon the motel located on US Highway 301, only to discover the disturbing scene. While initially the conditions and identities of the victims were not released, the GBI later updated that two had tragically lost their lives.
