Officers from the Atlanta Police Zone 1 arrived at the scene after reports of the shooting at 3047 Middleton Rd. NW were made around 6:51 p.m. The first responders found a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound; despite her injuries, she was alert and conscious, exhibiting an extraordinary resolve to flatly refuse medical transportation. An adult male victim was also found with a graze wound, who, like the woman, was alert and conscious but similarly declined to be transported for medical care.
