Atlanta can expect a mixed bag of weather conditions this week, according to the latest forecast. A sunny Saturday with highs around 61 degrees will lead into a night of partly cloudy skies and cool breezes, with temperatures dropping to the low 40s. The National Weather Service reports that an east wind of 10 to 15 mph could bring gusts up to 25 mph tonight.
But come Sunday, things will take a turn. Metro Atlanta is bracing for showers and a cloudy sky. "Showers likely, mainly after 2 pm," the National Weather Service predicts, citing a 70% chance of precipitation. Gusts could reach as high as 30 mph in an east wind of 15 to 20 mph, with temps struggling to reach the upper 40s.
The gray skies and rain will stick around into Sunday night, where it's expected to become windier. "Showers" and low temperatures around 40 are forecasted by the National Weather Service. Gusty winds out of the northeast are anticipated to reach 20 to 25 mph, pushing gusts potentially up to 40 mph.
Looking ahead to Monday, the early risers can expect more showers, but skies will gradually clear to partly sunny, with a high near 59 degrees. "Showers likely, mainly before 8 am," states the National Weather Service. Winds are to remain brisk, coming from the northeast at speeds of 15 to 20 mph, accented by gusts of perhaps up to 35 mph.
The rest of the week seems to promise more stable conditions. Tuesday through Thursday, Atlanta skies will be mostly sunny to partly sunny with temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. But by Friday, there's a potential for the return of showers, with the National Weather Service giving a modest 30 percent chance of rain and highs inching towards a more comfortable 63 degrees.
The constantly shifting weather is reflective of the typical uncertainty that early spring in Atlanta brings. Residents and visitors alike would do well to keep their umbrellas at hand and an eye on the latest forecasts, as the week promises a certain unpredictability that only Mother Nature can provide.
