The Milpitas Police Department was busy this past weekend as officers dealt with a range of criminal activities, from burglary to drug offenses. According to their social media update, the series of incidents began on Friday afternoon when a 42-year-old man from Pittsburg was arrested on outstanding felony burglary warrants. The arrest, taking place at around 4:06 PM near the 500-Block of Great Mall Dr, led to his booking at the Santa Clara County Jail.

Later that same evening, a security guard discovered an abandoned backpack with a loaded gun inside near the 30-Block of N. Main St. The weapon was registered to a 44-year-old transient individual from Concord. The gun owner attempted to reclaim his backpack but was apprehended by police, resulting in his arrest for multiple weapons violations. As the night stretched into early morning, a DUI stop near the 1100-Block of E. Calaveras Blvd nabbed a 56-year-old Milpitas man for operating a vehicle with almost double legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Moving into the early hours of Saturday, yet another vehicle-related arrest occurred. This time, an auto theft was unearthed when a vehicle's license plate, initially believed to be stolen, turned out to be just the tip of an iceberg. The car itself was stolen, and the 41-year-old driver from San Jose found himself facing charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property.

Sunday's police activity began in a similar fashion, with a routine stop for a traffic violation. However, it quickly escalated when a 26-year-old woman was cited for narcotics and traffic violations, while her passenger, a 24-year-old female with an outstanding felony warrant for auto theft, ended up behind bars. The day closed with an arrest at the Great Mall, where a 22-year-old San Jose man was booked for felony organized retail theft and drug possession, rounding out a weekend of assertive law enforcement actions in Milpitas.
