Wimberley water agencies are reportedly taking a firm stand against Aqua Texas over alleged conservation violations, as stated at a meeting where community members were informed of the utility company's failure to adhere to local guidelines.

David Baker, executive director of the Watershed Association, accused Aqua Texas of ignoring guidelines during droughts, which were initially accepted by the company as part of their agreement with the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District. "They agreed to those curtailments but then they ignored them and violated those rules," Baker said, according to KXAN.

In response to the allegations, Aqua Texas has launched a lawsuit against the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District over the violation notices, which demand the payment of hefty fines. Aqua Texas defended itself, claiming it is investing nearly $30 million to enhance local water infrastructure, reduce environmental impact, and comply with drought restrictions.

"Our customers represent 13% of the population that lives within the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District and water is only pumped in response to their consumption needs," Aqua Texas stated in response to the conservationists' claims, as reported by KXAN.
