Winona High School Coach Charged with Sexual Misconduct Involving Multiple StudentsSource: Winona Senior High School

A Winona Senior High School teacher and track coach has been charged with sexual misconduct involving multiple students, according to court documents. Eric Birth, 29, is facing allegations that include sex with minors and coercive sexual abuse.

Birth was charged with one count of criminal sex conduct in the third degree for engaging in sexual penetration with a 17-year-old girl in 2017, as reported by CBS News

A subsequent report disclosed a more recent charge involving a fourth student, also alleging sexual abuse with a minor, as per Winona Post.

One of the victims shared with authorities that she was coerced into meeting Birth, during which he forcibly engaged her in oral sex. "He then allegedly pulled down his pants and forced the girl to give him oral sex while he held her head down," CBS News Minnesota states regarding the incident that was interrupted when another vehicle approached. Another victim detailed how Birth tried to persuade her into a relationship over a course of two weeks following another inappropriate encounter.

Birth's employment status remains an administrative leave, as the legal process unfolds. If convicted of the charges brought against him, the former coach could face a minimum of 15 years in prison.
