Earlier today, it turned hazardous for a woman on the Southfield Freeway in Detroit when she was grazed by a bullet in a shooting incident. The shooting occurred near the ramp to I-96 around 2:15 a.m., where the woman, who was a passenger in a vehicle, sustained a minor injury after a bullet struck the car she was in, ClickOnDetroit reported.
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Livonia was exiting the freeway with a 27-year-old woman from Farmington in the front passenger seat, when another vehicle pulled alongside and fired a shot that penetrated the front passenger door but did not penetrate the woman's skin, she was shot in the thigh, the bullet didn't cause serious injury but the turn of events certainly rocked the early quiet of Detroit's slumbering streets. After the incident, the Livonia man managed to find a Michigan State Police trooper to whom he reported the incident, according to FOX 2 Detroit.
Michigan State Police are now actively seeking the perpetrator of this seemingly random freeway violence. "We are extremely fortunate that the passenger was not seriously hurt in this incident," said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw in a statement, which echoes the sentiment from a similar comment provided to Patch.
Details about the suspect or the motive behind this incident remain sparse; the authorities are urging anyone in the know or anyone who might have seen something to come forward, information can be pivotal in such cases where threads can be as fine as the morning mist, they are urging members of the community with any knowledge of the shooting to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP with the promise of anonymity preserved.
