A chaotic scene unfolded in Oakland as a vehicle slammed into an AC Transit bus, leaving 14 people with injuries. The collision, which took place late Friday afternoon, required a swift response from over 15 firefighters and multiple ambulances to tend to the victims.
Details emerged that a Chrysler 300 was speeding southbound on International Boulevard when it crashed into a Toyota Prius. The Prius was mid-turn onto 54th Avenue when the violent broadside collision propelled the Chrysler into a head-on collision with the bus, as per the statements from the Oakland Fire Department and AC Transit spokespeople. The accident transpired around 4:50 p.m., near the intersection of 54th and International.
Among the injured were both drivers of the Chrysler and the Prius, the operator of the AC Transit bus, and 11 passengers from the vehicles, revealed by AC Transit. The bus, part of the transit's 1T line which operates along International Boulevard, bore the brunt of the crash.

Reportedly, about 20 firefighters and between five to seven ambulances were dispatched to the crash site to provide medical aid and transport the injured. The Oakland Fire Department's Twitter account updated that a total of 14 individuals needed assistance after the multi-vehicle incident, emphasizing the extent of the emergency response.
Authorities blocked off roads in area between 50th and 60th Avenue on International Boulevard as they dealt with the aftermath of the incident. The Oakland Fire Department, on the scene by 5:45 p.m. according to SFChronicle.com, couldn't provide an immediate estimate on when normal traffic would resume as investigation and cleanup efforts were underway.
