The shooting occurred at around 11:50 a.m. at 2605 Reed Road on Saturday, where patrol officers discovered the 34-year-old victim with several gunshot wounds, according to the Houston Police Department's news release. Emergency responders rushed the man to an area hospital where he remains in critical, but stable condition, the police detailed.

Officials identified the suspect as Kanye Jermaine Huery-Bennett and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony offense. His booking photo has been released to the public. The case is now before the 262nd State District Court.

Neal from HPD's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division are leading the investigation, the department reported, after the immediate response by HPD patrol officers and the Houston Fire Department paramedics, ensured the victim received critical medical attention swiftly, after the assault.
