
A 73-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in Greene County, Tennessee, and a suspect has since been arrested on a murder charge, law enforcement officials reported. The Greene County Sheriff's Department detailed that the incident occurred at a residence on Old Stage Road, where Clarence "Lynn" Devoti was discovered with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.
William Harrison, 36, was identified as the suspect, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Department. He was taken into custody and is facing a charge of second-degree murder. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation joined in the investigation after deputies responding to a 911 call arrived at the scene around 4:35 p.m.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department announced their responding deputies tried to perform CPR on Devoti but were unsuccessful in their resuscitation efforts. Local EMS arrived and Devoti was subsequently declared deceased, as described in coverage by WJHL.
