Allen's Don Rodenbaugh Aquatics Center (DRAC) is set to undergo a facelift, with the Allen Community Development Corporation (CDC) announcing plans to pour over $100K into renovations. The improvements, specifically targeting the locker room tilework, come after the organization identified cost savings from a separate project. According to the City of Allen, the CDC has reallocated $109,474 in funds from their previous slide replacement initiative to tackle the new upgrades.
The fiscal savvy exhibited by the CDC has allowed them not to only efficiently address the aquatics center's needs but to also redirect excess funds towards enhancing the facility's dated areas. "The tilework in the locker rooms is long overdue for an update, and the funds saved from the DRAC slide replacement project are going to perfectly cover the costs for this much-needed improvement," the City of Allen announced.
Community members have welcomed the news, expressing that the aquatics center is a valued asset in Allen. The revamp promises to refine the user experience for the many families and individuals who make use of the DRAC daily.
