Upon arrival, a male suspect was found holding a firearm, standing just outside a residence. In a tense encounter with law enforcement, fired something solid--a shot--at the officers, which led to a police shooting, though luckily no party was injured. The SJPD said, "Neither the suspect nor the officers were hit by gunfire."
Further negotiations ensued, and after some time, the standoff came to a close as the suspect eventually agreed to lay down his weapon and was arrested. "Officers continued to negotiate with the suspect and eventually were able to get him to surrender," the SJPD conveyed, marking the arrest around 6:26 AM.
The investigation into the matter is in full swing as officials are piecing together what led up to the confrontation and the shots fired.
