"Auschwitz: Not Long Ago, Not Far Away." Set to open its doors on Friday, the display dives deep into the grim story of the techniques of mass murder used by the Nazis during World War II.

The historically poignant exhibit is reaching Boston's Castle at Park Plaza, featuring over 700 objects that paint a stark picture of life and death within the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp. These artifacts aren't just remnants of the past; they are testimonies of the million souls lost in the grizzly confines of the camp, painstakingly collected from museums globally and directly from the descendants of survivors. WHDH reported that the exhibit, which has been on tour since 2017, is making Boston its sixth stop in a mission to disseminate the history of the Nazis' most notorious death camp.

"The exhibition is a unique opportunity to see firsthand the original artifacts and basically to try to understand how Auschwitz came into existence and to find and understand the facts of the story," the exhibit's director Luis Ferreiro told WBZ-TV

Those planning to pay a visit will need to make arrangements soon; the exhibit is on a short stint, running until September only. According to organizers quoted by both CBS Boston and WHDH.
