Austin locals woke up to a cloak of dense fog this Friday morning, with visibility reduced to practically a handshake distance in parts of Central Texas. The fog, dense enough to snag an advisory warning until 9 a.m., has put drivers on alert to keep their low beams handy. But the soup is set to clear, partially at least, with forecasters promising a day where the sun will likely make a cameo by the afternoon.
KVUE reports that our brief affair with the fog is just the morning's overture, as the afternoon is expected to show up in style, with temperatures strutting in the mid to upper 70s. The weather's mood swings continue, with the potential for a breezy kick as gusts could whip up to 20 mph. The night, on the other hand, is forecasted to settle down into a more seasonable calm, with temperatures laying low in the mid-50s.

Come the weekend, the meteorological crystal ball sees a mostly sunny sprawl with a familiar rhythm of mid-50s mornings and mid-70s afternoons. Yet, Sunday whispers the promise of drama as clouds muscle in and winds rush ahead of a brewing cold front, with gusts potentially bodychecking the 40 mph mark, as per the National Weather Service.
Monday plays the wildcard with about a 50% chance to shuffle in showers and thunderstorms, setting the stage for a workweek wash. As the curtain falls on the cold front's performance, it leaves behind a city with highs tumbling into the lower to mid-70s for the midweek. For any surprises the skies might hold, the recommendation stands: keep an eye on the local weather apps and outlets. It's Texas weather, after all – and it's got a reputation for being as unpredictable as a plot twist in a pulp novel.
