As Austin bids adieu to winter, the city isn't quite ready to shake off the cooler temps, with today's highs aiming for the mid-60s under a mostly sunny sky, reports the National Weather Service. The light breezes that have been caressing the city streets are set to shift from the northeast to a southern gust as the day unfolds.

The culprit behind the city's recent spate of wayward weather is gearing up to give us its curtain call, with scattered showers anticipated to sprinkle across Central Texas starting late Wednesday and escalating into more widespread storms by Thursday, according to KXAN, though skies are expected to stay dry for most areas today adding to the gradual temperature transition as winds turn more southerly by the afternoon.
The impending tempest has even caught the eye of the Storm Prediction Center, which places Central Texas on a low-end leash for potential severe weather lurking in from Wednesday night into the wee hours of Thursday. While a light downpour of 0.1″-0.5″ hangs over our heads by Thursday noon, the storm isn't expected to overstay its welcome, with the promise of drier skies as the weekend beckons.

Post-storm, Austin can anticipate a return to that sunny disposition with temperatures climbing to a comfy high nearing the high 70s by Friday way through to a sunlit Saturday; it's the calm after the storm before the city sets its sights on another storm system that might just rain on our parade at the start of next week.
