Aussie outfit Funlab is looking to swiftly make its mark on the Houston social scene with a new mini golf and karaoke hotspot called Holey Moley, set to open doors in mid-April. Following successful launches in Denver and Austin, the offbeat venue has its sights on a prime spot near River Oaks, with an address at 3829 Weslayan. As described by the company's Global CEO Michael Schreiber, the emphasis is on fun, "We call ourselves Motherfunners. We live to show you a good time," he said in an announcement captured by the Houston Chronicle.

Fashioned with an '80s and '90s vibe, Holey Moley's three, nine-hole courses are to showcase themes such as Par for the Corpse and Birdie Hunter. The venue also nods to Houston's space heritage with an astronaut-themed hole, supplemented by murals from Texas artist Goodluck Buddha. Revealed in the same Chronicle report, plans for two private karaoke rooms and a proposal to introduce live music are in progress.

The Greenway Plaza entertainment center, not far from the famed Regal Edwards Cinema, will house the new 104-seat bar and dining space known as The Caddyshack. Here, patrons will find an American menu with a Texan twist, featuring dishes like chopped brisket sandwiches and chili queso nacho platters, along with standard fare such as burgers and pizzas. Funlab also made a statement, that has stirred up buzz about their quirky cocktails, such as the Rub a Dub in the Tub, a gin concoction served whimsically in a bathtub-shaped vessel garnished with rubber ducks. This detail was shared by Chron.com.

Besides providing Houstonians with a new place to swing their clubs, the venue is soon to offer space for larger parties and private events. The expansion into Houston is part of Funlab's broader strategy to diversify its footprint across the U.S. Blaise Witnish, the CEO of Funlab USA, expressed excitement about joining the local scene, "Houston is an incredible, diverse, and fun city," he said according to Chron.com.
