As the search for missing teen Sebastian Rogers intensifies, authorities have expanded their efforts to a Kentucky landfill. Sebastian, 15, from Sumner County, has been missing for over 10 days, prompting an extensive search that led detectives to comb through heaps of trash in the hope of finding any trace.
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the landfill, located in White Plains, Kentucky, receives waste from Sebastian's Beech area neighborhood. Despite lacking specific information pointing to the landfill, officials are calling this an "investigative, precautionary measure," as per a statement obtained by WREG News. The search aims to "eliminate possible options and questions," in a grueling process that underscores the dire nature of this investigation.
Meanwhile, reporters who arrived at the Hopkins County Regional Landfill were met with unusual activity. A news crew from WATE News observed at least one emergency vehicle from Sumner County and garbage trucks held at bay, unable to enter the facility as the search continued. The notably heightened security and restricted access to the site only served to highlight the gravity of the situation surrounding the young teen's disappearance.
The collaboration between Sumner County deputies and the Kentucky State Police indicates the case's complexity and scope. Kentucky State Police spokesperson Ridge Porter confirmed their detectives' involvement at the landfill in the 400 block of Claude Young Road. These combined efforts, however, have yet to produce new leads regarding Sebastian's whereabouts. As the eleventh day passes without signs of Sebastian, the community anxiously awaits developments. This was echoed in a discussion with WSMV4, where the search's scale and urgency were made clear once again.
