In an effort to green up the City of Blaine, local officials are calling on residents to adopt and care for trees through the city's Annual Arbor Day Tree Sale. According to a statement on the city's website, the event encourages locals to enhance their homes and environment by adding a tree, which can produce around 260 pounds of oxygen per year and remove roughly 360 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
For those looking to take part, the sale is set to commence online starting Monday, April 1 at 9 AM. The city has made a point to suggest residents to quickly set up a CivicRec account for faster access come sale day. Besides offering fresh air and shade, trees are mentioned to provide critical habitat for wildlife and can increase property values—a fact not to be taken lightly by savvy homeowners.
Trees can be picked up at the designated location, Blaine Public Works, with a range of pickup times being offered on May 3 and May 4. These details are laid out on the official site, where a list of pickup options is provided to ensure the process is as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
However, eager tree-planters should note that there are some limitations to the sale. The City of Blaine has clearly stated that the sale is exclusive to Blaine residents and that there is a cap of two trees per address. Moreover, there's an impetus to act promptly, as the trees are known to quickly sell out. For any questions, citizens have been directed to get in touch with the Public Works department via phone or email, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to seamlessly grab their new leafy companions.
