Tragedy struck early Wednesday morning in Gilroy as police discovered a body in the aftermath of a fierce fire. Officials were called to the scene at around 6:30 a.m. on the 7200 block of Rosanna Street, where they found a recreational vehicle and another building ablaze.
The inferno, to the rear of a home, prompted evacuations of nearby residents. Firefighters from the Gilroy Fire Department managed to quell the flames, and in their wake, the grim discovery was made. According to a report by Gilroy Police Department, inside the charred remains of the RV lay the body of an unidentified man.
Gilroy detectives have since taken over the investigation, sifting through the ashes for answers alongside arson specialists. The identity of the man and the exact sequence of events leading to the fire remain shrouded in mystery.
