Easter is being reimagined in Cobb County this year as Smith-Gilbert Gardens offers up a new twist on the traditional egg hunt. "Art Hatch," set for March 23, promises not only a scavenger hunt with a dozen expertly painted wooden eggs but also a full day's worth of family-friendly festivities. As reported by the garden’s website, the event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m., featuring games, live music provided by local students, and various art activities.
The Art Hatch event is designed to seamlessly kick off their Art Blooms exhibition, which will be open during April and May. Festival attendees can literally start to actively explore the various installations made possible by the artistic ambitions of high school seniors from four Cobb County schools. “We are excited for the opportunity to bring new life into our annual Easter Egg Hunt, which is now known as Art Hatch," Dave Simpson, the garden’s executive director told Kennesaw’s official website. Attendees can fully expect to delve into crafts, enjoy the tunes, and hunt for creatively camouflaged eggs scattered about the premises.
But the fun doesn’t stop in the garden. After the inaugural event, the hunt stretches its legs out to the Town Center Community, with an additional twelve painted eggs making an appearance along the Noonday Creek Trail. This extension of the egg-hunt extravaganza will last until May 31, offering plenty of opportunities for explorers young and old to join in. Each egg, painted by students, reflects a different art movement style to illustrate the theme "Perspectives."
Moreover, these eggs serve as more than just vibrant decorations – they're also educational. QR codes will be strategically placed near each egg, ready to be scanned, to easily provide curious minds with information about the art, artist, and the egg's location. According to the gardens’ announcement, this feature adds an interactive dimension to the experience, melding art appreciation with technological convenience. Tickets for the Art Hatch are up for grabs at the provided link, inviting community members to secure their spot at this innovative event.
