Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are teaming up for some major changes on Highway 10. Plans to add a third lane on each side of the stretch between Hanson Boulevard and Round Lake Boulevard are underway. Set to enhance capacity and cut down on traffic headaches, the project's details are now up for public scrutiny. A hearing at the upcoming Coon Rapids City Council on April 2 at 7:00 p.m. is the place to be for those looking to voice their opinions or just listen in.

Along with adding lanes, noise walls are also on the to-do list to give nearby residents a break from the constant hum of rubber on the road. While constructions shake up the scene, two lanes of traffic in both directions on Highway 10, will always stay open. However, taking a spin-off at Hanson, Main Street, and Round Lake Boulevard exits will be a no-go at stages during the roadwork.

Last year, the state legislature gave the green light to a hefty $30 million for the project. The whole renovation is expected to wrap in 2025.

Public comments are welcome through April 18. For more information, just click on the project's website.
