Dallas is bracing for an erratic spell of early spring weather, with forecasters predicting everything from sunny skies to thunderstorms and possible severe weather conditions. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Fort Worth, Dallas will bask in sunny weather today, with the mercury poised to hit a comfortable 81 degrees before dipping to a mild 56 in the evening. The light wind is expected to shift throughout the day from east-southeast to west-northwest.

However, Dallas residents will have to split their preparations to tackle both sunshine and storms in the coming days. The NWS Fort Worth has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook identifying risks of thunderstorms early Wednesday morning and again later in the day along a creeping cold front over North Texas. A slight chill will persist with a low of 56 tonight, and the chance of thunderstorms will rear up by Wednesday evening, continuing sporadically through Friday.

Forecasters are cautioning that these thunderstorms could turn severe. "A few strong to severe storms are possible and will be capable of producing hail and gusty winds," the National Weather Service warns. By Thursday, the chance of precipitation jumps to 60%, with thunderstorms likely, especially in the afternoon. Residents should remember to carry umbrellas and prepare for potential hail as southeast winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

The unstable weather is expected to persist, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms into Thursday night. The NWS indicates a few strong or severe storms, with primarily a hail threat, are possible during this turbulent period. By the weekend, skies will begin to clear, bringing partly sunny conditions Saturday and full sunshine with highs around the upper 60s and low 70s by the start of the next workweek.

Local authorities have not indicated the need for spotter activation at this time. Yet, with conditions set to shift quickly between tranquil and tempestuous, Dallasites should stay vigilant, remain informed, and prepare to adjust their plans accordingly. The NWS will be closely monitoring the situation and providing updates as the week progresses.
