A Dallas man's life was cut short this month when a routine police call revealed a grim scene. On March 14, officers were summoned to an address on Bluewood Drive in response to a shooting. According to the Dallas Police Department, when law enforcement arrived, they found 56-year-old Timothy Gantt shot and swiftly transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Gantt succumbed to his injuries four days later on March 18. This turn of events upgraded the investigation, now handled by the Homicide Unit. In a statement acquired by the DPD Beat, the case against the accused, Benjamin Edwards, is now being investigated as a homicide.
Edwards, 59, was already behind bars in Dallas County Jail on an unrelated charge when he was identified as the suspect. The Dallas Police have since charged him with murder in connection to Gantt's death, as noted in case number 041686-2024.
The investigation continues and law enforcement is reaching out to the community looking for additional information. Detectives involved in the case urge anyone with knowledge about the incident to contact Detective Yahir Perez at 469-849-3757 or via email at [email protected], which could potentially aid in bringing more clarity to the circumstances surrounding Gantt's untimely demise.
