
Firefighters in Downtown LA battled a blaze today at a two-story apartment building, initially reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department to be located at 820 E Agatha Street, only to later correct the address to 745 S Stanford Avenue. Heavy smoke was pouring from the building when crews arrived on the scene in an offensive stance to combat the flames. The incident, logged as INC#0854, was first reported at approximately 12:43 PM, according to a LAFD alert.
The fire, which took hold in one unit on the first floor of the center-hallway style building, saw an intense response with thirty-four firefighters working together in what was described as an aggressive interior fire attack that managed to contain the fire rapidly to the single unit of origin, crews deploying hose lines and extinguishing the blaze in just 14 minutes from the time of the initial alarm, the updated incident information detailed. Luckily, a search of the premises thankfully did not unveil any occupants to be trapped inside the affected unit.
No one was reportedly injured during the ordeal while firefighters will remain at the site to ensure that the area is properly ventilated, setting up blowers to clear all remaining smoke from the affected building. The LAFD's prompt response and effective handling of the situation averted what could have potentially been a more devastating event.
