A wild high-speed chase on Atascocita Road ended with a suspect behind bars last week, officials said. On March 12, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman's Office spotted a driver, later identified as Isaiah Torres, barreling down the 12400 block of the thoroughfare. Torres was clocked at speeds topping 85 mph, weaving dangerously through traffic, the constable's office reported.
"The vehicle was also observed weaving in, out and around vehicles in a dangerous, and reckless manner all while traveling in an excess of eighty five miles per hour," Constable Mark Herman said, referring to the high-stakes episode. In a swift response to the driver's apparent indifference to public safety, deputies pursued and ultimately stopped the vehicle.
Following the traffic stop, Torres was taken into custody without further incident. He was slapped with a reckless driving charge and booked into Harris County Jail, Constable Herman detailed in a release.
"Isaiah Torres was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Reckless Driving," Herman stated. Torres' bond was set at a paltry $100, the constable detailed, citing County Court 7. The announcement of the arrest and the details of the high-speed pursuit hit the constable's Facebook page on March 16, drawing a mix of community concern and relief over the swift arrest.
