In a horrific road tragedy, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has announced charges against Victor Siharath for his role in the deaths of three women in a drunk driving incident in Pomona. The crash, which occurred on March 2, also left two others, including a child, with serious injuries, as reported by the DA's office.
Siharath, behind the wheel and under the influence, is alleged to have blown through a red light, slamming his SUV into a sedan and bringing the total count of his charges to three for murder. The fatal decision to drive inebriated is set to possibly lock him away for life, a dire consequence reflecting the gravity of this preventable tragedy, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval weighed on the case, expressing satisfaction that justice is being fiercely pursued. "Driving under the influence is 100% preventable. Individuals who ignore the law need to understand that there are repercussions for their senseless actions, that often result in tragedy, pain, and loss to the victims’ families and our community,” he said. This sentiment was echoed by Pomona Police Chief Michael Ellis, who is mourning alongside the community and stated, "The Pomona Police Department mourns with our community and the families of the victims."
Vehement about enforcing DUI laws, Pomona PD is leading the criminal investigation with determination. Siharath, with a birth date of 02/17/88, faces additional counts of driving under the influence causing injury, with special allegations for inflicting great bodily harm upon the survivors. His arraignment is now to unfold on March 28 at the Pomona Courthouse quickly, as reported by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The late-night accident which led to a collision at White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard claimed three lives and imperiled a man and a 12-year-old girl. Currently, Siharath is being held on no bail, a status underscoring the severity of his alleged crimes.
