Gunfire erupted on a quiet Oakland freeway in the dead of night when a driver became an unwitting target in what police are calling a non-injury freeway shooting. The incident transpired on March 7, when, according to the California Highway Patrol, a motorist found himself in the line of fire on westbound Interstate 980 near 11th Street shortly after 1:30 a.m.
With bullets piercing his vehicle, the victim, who wisely pulled over to safety, described the harrowing encounter where a trailing gunman hit his tire and trunk. Shaken but unscathed, the victim sought refuge in a CHP parking lot, where officers were later contacted. The suspect's vehicle, after firing around four rounds, was last seen escaping, according to the CHP's Facebook account.
