Druid Hills Middle School has turned the tables on its recent health inspection woes by scoring a perfect 100 in a follow-up visit, shedding the dismal 63 out of 100 it received less than a month ago. These developments come after the Georgia Department of Public Health documented multiple health violations, including an incident involving an employee serving food without washing hands after using the restroom and improperly stored food items.

The initial failing score on Feb. 27 threw the school's cafeteria services into the spotlight, bringing to light food stored above the standard 41 degrees and salads not cooled properly. In response to the health department's findings, the school's principal, Sheveeta Bonner, assured parents that immediate measures would be taken to amend these issues. According to a report by FOX5 Atlanta, these assurances were met, and the school has since met the grade, reflecting an overhaul in cafeteria health and safety protocols.

Prior to this snag, Druid Hills Middle School had a better track record, with scores of 86 and 100 in the two previous inspections held in the past year. The recent achievement of a perfect score in the follow-up inspection underlines a significant improvement in the cafeteria's health standards, a point of pride mentioned by Principal Bonner in a letter sent out to the school's families. Atlanta News First shared the full letter in which Bonner expressed gratitude for the support and understanding from the school community.

"We are immensely proud of this improvement, which more accurately reflects our commitment to the well-being of our students and staff," Bonner told parents, as per Atlanta News First report. The principal lauded the collective efforts of the school personnel and the District Operations Team for their swift action in rectifying the noted violations.
