In a string of calculated thefts, twin brothers Ali and Shuaib Ahmed have been nabbed for their alleged month-long shoplifting spree across El Cajon retail establishments, authorities said. The duo, both 28, are accused of hitting Ulta Beauty on numerous occasions between January 23 and February 24 and pilfering more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. But their alleged heist tactics didn't stop there; on February 24, the brothers reportedly swiped an additional $700 in goods from JC Penney.
The El Cajon Police Department conducted a meticulous investigation that led to the capture of the Ahmed twins. Upon his arrest, Shuaib Ahmed was found with drugs earmarked for distribution, setting him up for additional drug-related charges. The police department has slapped the brothers with multiple felony counts, including grand theft and conspiracy, with drug charges piled on Shuaib, as detailed on the department's X post.

Not new to the criminal justice system, the brothers possess a lengthy rap sheet centered on theft. Shuaib's record is further tarnished as he is currently under probation for a prior burglary conviction. In a society wearied by recurrent theft, the crimes of the Ahmed brothers are a stark reminder of the persistent challenge faced by law enforcement in curbing retail crime waves.
The law in El Cajon seeks to uphold a sense of security and justice. "The El Cajon Police Department will use every resource available to hold criminals who commit these types of thefts accountable. Criminal acts will not be tolerated and will have consequences for those who commit them," Chief Mike Moulton asserted in a stark warning to would-be offenders.
