Former NFL quarterback Vince Young was caught in a tumultuous scene at a Houston bar last month, video evidence revealed. According to TMZ Sports, the incident unfolded at Tokyo Joe's Shot Bar around 9 p.m. on February 4, where Young, donning a white hat and black shirt, got entangled in an argument with another patron, escalating to violence.
In the footage with no audio, obtained by TMZ Sports, it is unclear what words were exchanged that sparked the confrontation. The brawl appeared to cease momentarily before Young, looking the other way, was unexpectedly struck by a punch, leaving him sprawling on the floor for several minutes before eventually rising.
The owner of the bar claimed, in a conversation with the Houston Police Department, that the fight originated from a discussion about race and escalated after he asked the parties to leave. He also alleged being hit by a drink and an elbow, as reported by KTRK. Despite the claims, the man decided against pressing charges and no arrests were made following the incident.
Adding to the accounts of the night, the Houston Police indicated that multiple bar staff were embroiled in the melee, and they were the ones who alerted authorities, asking for assistance in dismissing the individuals involved. Upon their arrival, Houston police noted that the suspects had fled the scene, rendering it impossible to ascertain their identities or the exact number of people involved, as the manager didn't desire to press charges but simply wanted the incident on record. This individual had engaged in similar altercations previously, the manager told officers.
Vince Young, celebrated as one of the greatest college quarterbacks and a local Houston hero, has not yet responded to requests for comments on the incident. The management at Tokyo Joe's also declined to comment, with indications that a legal representative would reach out instead. Houston police has kept the investigation into the affair ongoing.
