Three teenagers' freedom came to a screeching halt thanks to the eagle-eyed crew of the MPD's Falcon helicopter, the department's eye in the sky, which led to the trio's arrest for a bold carjacking in Northwest Washington, according to police officials.

The carjacking drama unfolded on March 14, when at around 6:07 p.m., officers dashed to the scene in the 700 block of Lamont Street NW after receiving a distress call, a gun had been pointed at a man by one suspect as a sybaritic second played the good Samaritan, instructing the victim to remove his child from the backseat before they callously made off with the vehicle.

The Metropolitan Police Department later reported that their helicopter spotted the carjacked vehicle less than a quarter-hour after the criminals embarked on their joyride; with three suspects inside, pinpointing their location for the Robbery Suppression Unit, which swooped in to nab the young offenders.

The three were arrested and a firearm was seized by the authorities, the suspects, two 15-year-olds from Northeast and a mere 14-year-old from Southeast have now been charged with armed carjacking, their youth belying the brute force they chose to exert, the power of life and death in their young hands as they pointed their weapon and dictated terms to a man and his child.
