Tragedy struck on the Southeast Side of San Antonio, where four individuals were found dead in a home ravaged by fire. The inferno that tore through a house on March 8 left little but questions and ashes in its wake, as AP News reported.

Answering a call just after 11 a.m., the San Antonio Fire Department faced a blaze so consuming, efforts to douse flames were thwarted, leading firefighters to prioritize the safety of adjacent homes, the department's spokesperson, Joe Arrington said. The heat abated, and the search through the charred remnants eventually led to a grim discovery; the bodies of what is believed to be a family of four. Arrington described the day as "very dark" for the department, noting the lack of young children among the victims.

However, turning this case from tragic to perplexing, Fox San Antonio revealed that not all the victims succumbed to the blaze, with the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office declaring that 19-year-old Leslie Pescador, one of the deceased, did not die from fire-related injuries but from a gunshot wound.

Residents reported an explosion originating from the home's garage before the flames spread, consumption complete, the house stood no chance. Amidst the aftermath, the home collapsed, leaving two neighboring properties with minor damage, this catastrophe, now a homicide inquiry as well. "The cause of the fire as well as the cause of death will be under investigation," Arrington stated, shedding a ray of hope that answers may eventually be sifted from the soot-caked ruins.
