A tragic intersection of lives on a San Jose street has claimed the life of a female bicyclist, marking the city's 10th traffic death this year. San Jose Police Department (SJPD) detailed the grim incident, which occurred on March 7, where a motorcycle collided with the bicyclist in an unmarked area of Hamilton Avenue.
The accident involved a 2018 black Kawasaki Ninja driven by an adult male and the female bicyclist crossing outside any dedicated crosswalk. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized, and though she initially stabilized, the woman, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries three days later. She was pronounced dead on March 10. The male motorcyclist stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with authorities, with initial investigations suggesting that neither alcohol nor drugs were contributing factors in the fatal crash.
As the SJPD continues its probe into the collision, they have not yet named the victim; information regarding her identity is set to be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office once the necessary confirmations have been made and the victim's family has been notified. The Traffic Investigations Unit is spearheading the investigation, with Detective DelliCarpini actively seeking additional witnesses or informative tips via contact at [email protected] or 408-277-4654.
