A lewd act in broad daylight at a local high school has landed a Fillmore man in hot water after he was arrested for public indecency. According to the official report released by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Ivan Alejandro Valdez was caught in the act of touching his genitals for sexual gratification in the Sierra High School parking lot on March 6th.
The disconcerting episode near a Ventura County school started when two female students spotted Valdez in his car engaging in inappropriate behavior, as they walked by the situation quickly escalated after Valdez allegedly began to follow the juveniles to a nearby Starbucks, prompting them to reach out to authorities, Senior Deputy Dustin Heersche detailed the unsettling chain of events in a news release. With the swift cooperation of the Fillmore Patrol Services and Fillmore Investigations Bureau, Valdez was apprehended, he was detained on a charge of lewd conduct, referencing Penal Code § 647a.
Valdez's capture was aided by surveillance footage, tips from the public, and detective work by the local law enforcement, who took Valdez into custody without reported incident. The Sheriff’s Office commended citizens for their help and encouraged the community to maintain vigilance, instructing parents to educate their children about the dangers of interacting with strangers and to report any suspicious activities promptly.
