Flames engulfed a single-story home in the Minnetex area, as firefighters scrambled to battle the blaze late Sunday afternoon. According to a release from Houston's Fire Department, the inferno, which is currently under investigation and appears accidental, caused about $80,000 worth of damage.

The fire, which erupted in the 6200 block of El Cobre Dr. on March 18, was met with an aggressive response. Firefighters arrived within a mere seven minutes, around 3:44 p.m., to confront the fire emanating from the residence. In a stroke of luck, there were no reported injuries, and firefighters were able to save an estimated $158,388 in property value.

Efforts to control the fire were immediate and strategic. Crews made an offensive attack and managed to stop the spread of fire to the attic. Part of their approach included ventilating the roof and completing both primary and secondary searches of the home. Inside, they swiftly covered items with plastic to mitigate further damage.

Houston Fire Department's Arson investigators have taken charge of determining the precise cause and origin of the fire. The response involved a substantial mobilization of resources, with 39 personnel from fire stations including 55, 26, 35, 36, 61, and 24 rushing to aid in the fire-fighting operations.
