Fort Worth's bravest gathered on Saturday to bid farewell to one of their own, Lieutenant Garey Pugh, who was laid to rest in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and fellow firefighters. The Fort Worth Fire Department came together in solemn unity to commemorate the service and dedication of Lt. Pugh, a man who dedicated his life to the safety of others. The Fort Worth Fire Department took to Facebook to express their collective heartache, saying, "These memorials never get easier no matter how many we attend."
Alongside the Fort Worth Fire Department, personnel from Crowley Fire Department, Plano Fire-Rescue, Keller Public Safety, Dallas Fire-Rescue, Temple Fire & Rescue, the Fort Worth Police Department, and MedStar were also present, marking a significant show of interdepartmental solidarity. The Fort Worth Fire Department’s post added, "Your presence meant a lot." The collective grief and respect were palpable, as those who serve and protect proved once again they stand as a united front, especially in the face of loss.
The Fort Worth Fire Department’s message served not only as an acknowledgment of Pugh's contributions but also as a comfort to those mourning. "We appreciate your prayers, words of comfort and support during this difficult time. We know we felt it and that Lieutenant Pugh’s family appreciated them as well," the post conveyed.
